I had stuff that I needed to say and wanted people to hear on your special day, but couldn’t. For this, I’m sorry, so, I’m going to leave it here…..
People whose lives you have entered have their own memories of you, how or where they met you but for me, you have always been there and the memories I have will last forever and have shaped who I have become.
My love of music, musicals, theatre, and ballet, I get from you. We recently took ‘the wee ones’ to their first theatre show and as I watched their faces light with joy , I smiled and thought back to the first show you took me to at a very young age, Heidi I think, and wondered if you looked at me in the same way. For this, I thank you.
My outlook on life, I get from you. Our travels, the life and cultural experiences you gave us, showed us that there is so much more to life and other, much richer ways to be educated. This is something that I cherish, carry and pay forward. For this, I thank you.
My slight eccentricities and sense of humour, I get from you. As a teen, I found this highly embarrassing and you received regular eye rolls from me… as an adult, I am on the receiving end of these eye rolls and you know what? I don’t care, I am my father’s daughter and very proud of it too. For this, I thank you.
